The whole of the UK has now reached the temperatures required for hatching of Nematodirus. Farmers with lambs that are 6-12 weeks of age should be aware that they may need to take action. For those areas that have now been coloured red for some weeks, we will begin downgrading the risk again over the next couple of weeks - please keep a watch on the site for further updates.
We are also finding some significant levels of other roundworms in lambs that are grazing pasture that have carried infection over from last season. Now is a good time to start monitoring lambs using Faecal Egg Counts (FECs) as a guide to when to start treating.
